6 Reasons Why You Should Be Seeding Your Content

Back in March we looked at what content seeding is, but why should you be doing it? And what value does it bring to you, your brand or your campaign? Well, we’ve got you covered. Here are 6 reasons why you should be seeding your content.

Spread awareness – We get it, whether you’re a big brand or an individual social influencer, whether you’re making a hard-hitting charity film or a vlog for a new client, the ‘fun part’ a content driven campaign is often creating the content itself. But brilliant content shouldn’t just sit there, it should be seen and celebrated! By seeding your content out to relevant websites, blogs and influencers, we can spread awareness of the campaign, and your content generally, far beyond its normal reach.

Reach new audiences – Even if you have a large and established following, reaching people who aren’t aware of you or what you do, can be extremely valuable and lead to new followers, customers and sales. During the planning stages of any content seeding campaign we work to match your target audience to the outlets we approach to ensure the coverage you receive is relevant, of value and reaching people who are likely to be interested in what you do.

Validate your content – Having your content shared by relevant and respected websites, blogs and influencers validates the content. These outlets and individuals have built up their audience and gained their trust, so if they’re happy to share content you’ve created then they believe its worth sharing. Essentially, your content will carry more weight if a thought leader validates it.

Aid discovery Every piece of coverage secured in a content seeding campaign can help aid discovery of you or your brand. Think of a content seeding campaign as creating little signposts around the Internet pointing back to you or your brand. How? Well firstly, there is the content itself (e.g. a blog post, video or article created about your content), the social sharing of that content and the long-term SEO benefit of that content.

Drive traffic to your website – We regularly work with a network of influential outlets to ensure high quality coverage is secured and, if they’re sharing a video or another piece of digital content you’ve created, this will include a link to your content and/or a direct link to your website.

Increase social sharing – Depending on the requirements of your content seeding campaign we can work on getting your content shared by others exclusively through social media or focus on securing coverage and reap the benefits of the social sharing that comes with that. Most websites, blogs and influencers will naturally use their social media accounts to share the content they create in order to drive their followers to have a look, which is great for your content too.
