After last weeks blog post listing the 5 most disliked YouTube videos of all time we decided to be a bit more positive and talk about the videos on the other end of the scale! So today we will be counting down the 5 most liked videos on everyone’s favourite video sharing site.
“Sorry” by Justin Bieber is the first of 5 music video’s to make it onto this list and considering his popularity we’re surprised it only made it to number 5! Bieber made a unwanted appearance on our previous list of disliked video’s with his song “Baby”, however since then he seems to have won over his critics and gained a much larger fanbase (By that I mean his fans aren’t just a bunch of obsessive teenage girls anymore.) After being released back in October 2015 the hit song has gathered over 1.6 billion views and 6.4 million likes! It’s safe to say that after all the criticism he got early on Bieber isn’t “Sorry” about continuing with his music career.
4 – “Uptown Funk” – Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars
“Uptown Funk” feels like one of those throwback songs that in twenty years time parents will try to embarrass their kids by singing and dancing foolishly in front of all of their friends (shout out to my mother for ruining “Living on a prayer” for the rest of my life) Ronson and Mars successfully produced one of the most popular songs of the decade with “Uptown Funk” hitting over 1.7 billion views on YouTube. It’s safe to say that the public enjoyed what they heard as the video has managed to get 6.6 million likes since being uploaded in November 2014.
3 – “Hello” – Adele
Everyone likes Adele! If you don’t you’re lying to yourself and everyone else so I would advise you stop before you become a social outcast. After taking a short hiatus in early 2014 Adele returned and showed that she still had it with her single “Hello”. The music video turned into an instant hit and ranked 2nd on the list of viewed songs in 24 hours. The views soon transformed into likes and currently has over 10 million thumbs up!
2 – “See You Again” – Wiz Khalifa ft Charlie Puth
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 3 years you will have most likely heard about the tragic death of Fast and Furious star Paul Walker. “See You Again” was not only the soundtrack to “Furious 7” but also a tribute to Walker and his friendship with Vin Diesel plus so many others. The video showing the two friends going their separate ways accompanied by the vocals of Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa was received extremely well and has become the 2nd most viewed video on YouTube in just over a year. The video is soon going to reach 2 billion views and has over 10.9 million likes.
“Gangnam Style” released by PSY back in July 2012 has somehow managed to make it onto both our most liked and our most disliked videos list. This is most probably due to the astronomical view count currently standing at 2.6 billion! The video that took the internet by storm 4 years ago has over 11 million likes and shows no signs of slowing down.It is clear that it is going to take something pretty special to knock this off the top spot. Because people love a Korean man signing in a language they most likely can’t understand while doing a silly dance … welcome to the internet people!
